Terms of use
Last updated 24 September 2026
These terms cover your use of Charmi: the app, the website and the charging devices hosted at shops. Charmi is operated by Pepulux, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. By creating an account or starting a charge you agree to them.
1. Your account
- You sign in with your phone number and a one-time code we send by SMS.
- Keep your phone and codes to yourself. Activity on your account, including charges, is treated as yours.
- Give accurate details. If you are under 18, use Charmi only with a parent or guardian's permission.
2. Your balance
Charmi is prepaid: charging is paid from the balance in your account. Money added to your balance can only be spent on charging, and is not withdrawable as cash while your account is open. If you close your account, any unused balance is refundable: ask us within 30 days of closing and we will arrange it. The wallet & refund policy explains limits, holds and the errors we correct.
3. Prices and how a charge is billed
- The price is shown before you start: a price per kWh and a fixed service fee per session.
- You pay the service fee plus the energy the device measured, multiplied by the price per kWh shown when the session started. Prices can change, but never during a session that has already started.
- A session that ends within the first minute after it starts is not charged.
- When a session starts, part of your balance is held so the charge cannot exceed what you can pay. A session is never billed more than that hold.
- If a device cannot report its final reading, we bill from the last reading it sent.
4. Charging
- Stop a session from the app at any time. It also ends when your vehicle is full or when the device stops it. Unplugging without stopping is not a way to end a session.
- Charge only vehicles and chargers that are safe and suitable for the outlet. Follow any instructions shown on the device or given by the shop.
- Do not open, move, damage or tamper with a device. If a device looks damaged or unsafe, do not use it, and report it.
- You are responsible for your vehicle and belongings while charging.
5. Shops
Devices are hosted at independent shops. Your agreement for charging and payment is with Charmi, not with the shop. Please respect the shop's opening hours and premises.
6. Availability
We work to keep devices online, but we cannot promise that a device will be available, working or free when you arrive. Availability shown on the map and in the list is a guide and can be out of date.
7. Problems and disputes
If a charge looks wrong, contact us as soon as you can. We check every request against the session and wallet records, and correct errors as set out in the wallet & refund policy.
8. Suspending an account
We may suspend or close an account that is used for fraud, tampering with devices, abuse of shop staff, or anything that puts other people or property at risk.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Charmi is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss caused by a vehicle or charger that is faulty or not suitable for the outlet. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer under Sri Lankan law.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. When we make an important change we will tell you in the app before it applies to you. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka.
